| On July 4 at 16:29 hours, the East Fishkill Fire District was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on the Taconic State Parkway southbound at mile marker 40.2, with reports of possible entrapment.
The first Chief to arrive on scene confirmed that occupants were trapped, prompting the request for an additional rescue truck and ambulances. In total, six ambulances and one medic fly car responded to the incident:
• East Fishkill Medic 1 • East Fishkill 3972 • Beekman Medic 3479 • Wappingers Medic 1 • Dutchess Medic 1 • Beacon Medic 8279 • Putnam Medic 1 Fly Car
A total of seven patients were transported to area hospitals.
This was a challenging incident that required a coordinated effort from all responding agencies. The vehicle had struck a tree, causing significant intrusion into the front passenger side. Extensive extrication operations were required, including the removal of the vehicle's roof to safely access and remove the front-seat passenger.
We would like to thank all the firefighters, Extrication personnel, EMS personnel, Fire Police for traffic control, 911 dispatchers whose teamwork and professionalism ensured that every patient received the care they needed, and the New York State Police. Incidents like this are a reminder of the importance of wearing your seatbelt, driving attentively, and remaining alert on our roadways. |
