Fire Investigation Unit
The Fire Investigation Unit was formed in 1989 and is responsible for inventorying, photographing, and documenting the scene in an attemt to determine the cause and origin of a fire. They assist the Chief who is ultimately responsible for the overall scene.
The team works hand and hand with local law enforcement, the Dutchess County Fire Investigation Division, and insurance investigators in helping to determine the cause and origin of fires.
The team or an investigator is normally called when the cause of a fire is not obvious to the on-scene personnel.
