On June 9, 2019 at 5:17 pm the East Fishkill Fire District was dispatched to the Taconic State Parkway north bound by Miller Hill Road for a car into a tree with entrapment. State police arrived on the scene and confirmed heavy entrapment and asked for units to expedite to the scene. The vehicle stuck a tree on the driver’s side and there was substantial intrusion to the driver’s side passenger compartment. Due to the training time put in by the members of the extrication team they were able to extricate the driver after 14 minutes from when they arrived on scene. This included stabilizing the vehicle and in addition stabilizing the tree that the vehicle had crashed into. The young child that was in the vehicle appeared to be uninjured, the driver appeared to have minor injuries but was transported by an EMStar Medic Unit to an unknown hospital for evaluation. Thank you to the State Police and the Kent Fire Department for their assistance with traffic control.
